Refund, Cancellation & Returns Policy

Your cancellation, transfer and refund rights depend on what you book. By completing a booking you accept the terms relevant to your purchase. To request a cancellation, transfer or refund, email Jess@philosophyofwine.com with your order number.

1. WSET certificate courses (Levels 1, 2 & 3)

We register you with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and must submit our final candidate list 10 working days before the course starts. Therefore:

  • Cancellations or transfers (to another course date or to another person) are accepted up to 10 working days before the start date, for a €25 administration fee plus the cost of any study materials already supplied; the balance is refunded.
  • Within 10 working days of the start date, or once the course has begun, no refund or transfer is available, as your WSET registration and materials costs will already have been incurred.
  • After the 10-working-day cut-off we are unable to change or substitute the registered student (a WSET requirement).
  • WSET registration and exam fees are non-refundable. Your first exam sitting is included in the course fee; resits are payable.

2. Wine Scholar Guild French Wine Essentials

  • The WSG coursebook is printed and shipped to you, so once it has been dispatched its cost is non-refundable.
  • Cancellations or transfers are accepted up to 10 working days before the start, for a €25 administration fee plus the cost of any study materials already supplied; the balance is refunded. Within 10 working days of the start, or once the course has begun, no refund or transfer is available.

3. Masterclasses, tastings & events

We keep our classes small, so we ask for as much notice as possible. If you let us know at least 3 working days before the masterclass, we will transfer your booking to a future masterclass or offer you a credit. We are flexible and will always do our best to help — please get in touch as soon as you can.

4. If we change or cancel a course

We may need to reschedule or cancel a course if it does not reach the minimum number of students required to run it. If we do, we will let you know at least 10 working days before the planned start date. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled date, or another course within 12 months, we will refund you in full, less the cost of any study materials already sent to you.

5. Physical products (glassware & apparel)

For physical goods bought online — such as glassware or apparel — EU consumers have the right to cancel within 14 days of receipt and to return unused items in their original condition and packaging for a refund. To arrange a return, email us at Jess@philosophyofwine.com and send the items back within 14 days of telling us.

6. How refunds are made

Approved refunds are made to your original payment method. We initiate refunds as soon as reasonably practicable; how long the money then takes to reach you depends on your card issuer or payment provider.
